Whether you are heading to Dubrovnik for a beach break, or you’re off to explore the city and surrounding area, sometimes the warm weather just makes you want to dip your feet in a refreshing swimming pool.
When you’ve come back from a day of sightseeing, Not all hotels have pools, no matter where in the world you go, but there are some seriously inviting pools at some Dubrovnik hotels and private residences. To cut down on your internet search for accommodation, here are ten of the best hotels and private rentals in Dubrovnik, which will more than cater for your swimming pool needs.
Hotel Neptun Dubrovnik
If you are looking to splash out a little and get a hotel with a pool for a few extra bucks, then this hotel is a must. Sophisticated with a capital S, the Hotel Neptun is a 4-star establishment, right on the beach. Recently renovated, the hotel is modern and charming, with fantastic views over the Lapad Peninsula.
Most rooms come with a sea-view balcony, so make sure you request one at the booking stage, although the good news is that there is free Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel, so no internet black spots! All rooms have everything you would expect from a top class hotel, including flat screen TVs. There is also a spa and fitness center at your disposal.
The hotels’ main feature is the huge cliff top pool, and there is also a separate pool for children too, which cuts down on the noise! Of course, you could also head to the beach, which is a stone’s throw away. The Old Town is only ten minutes’ by road away from the hotel, and there is a local bus stop ready to take you from the pool to the city.
Hedera – Private Residence
This is a private accommodation with a pool available all year long, overlooking the entire eastern part of Dubrovnik, and the stunning blue of the sea. If you want a home away from home vibe, in complete style, this is for you! The main feature again is the pool and terrace – the pool has steps to allow you to choose your depth, and that is ideal for non-swimmers and children. The terrace is raised up, with 15 steps leading to it, which allows for those panoramic views.
The apartment itself has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and can accommodate up to 8 people. There are two queen bedrooms, one room with twin beds, and accommodation in the living room with pull out sofa beds.

The Old Town is also only 15 minutes away, so you don’t have to exert yourself too much if you need to venture out, simply by heading to the bus stop meters from your poolside vacation. Rustic Stone Villa Begovi Dvori – Private Residence
Sometimes it’s always best to try and stay in the most authentic accommodation possible because that really does give you a genuine feel for the destination you are visiting. Of course, you’re still on holiday, and you want facilities to mirror that, which is what makes this private vacation rental a fantastic choice.
Sleeping up to eight people in four bedrooms and three bathrooms, this villa is rustic but very comfortable and surprisingly modern! The villa itself is surrounded by a well-kept garden, with olive groves and a fragrant herb garden; basically, this is a tranquil choice, somewhere you can feel completely cut off from your cares and worries, yet still be enough to the Old Town, at around 15km away.
There is that much needed private swimming pool, set in beautiful gardens, and a large terrace for soaking up the sun and enjoying a meal. You can cook in the well-stocked kitchen, or you can make use of the BBQ facilities and shaded indoor grill – the choice is yours. Everything you need is included in this villa, with magnificent sea views from all bedrooms.
The four-star Hotel Lapad is a fantastic choice, not only for its large outdoor pool, surrounded by those iconic palm trees but because of its architecture. This historic building stands in traditional style and has been renovated into a hotel for people to enjoy a unique and authentic place to stay. At just 12 minutes’ walk away from the beach, you have beautiful views over Gruz Harbour to enjoy, which can be reached by boat shuttle from the hotel.
Rooms are decorated in minimalistic style, and all have air con, flat screen TVs, minibars (an excellent addition!), and tea and coffee machines in each room. Wi-Fi is also free all over the hotel – more great news! The on-site a la carte restaurant serves meals on the spacious garden terrace, and you can enjoy pool parties and live music during the summer months too, which certainly gives this hotel an edge over the competition.
Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel
Hotels do not get more swanky than this one! Five stars and very well deserved, this hotel is large and very new, having been renovated in 2014, leaving it ultra shiny! The hotel is also located just a few minutes from the beach, on the Babin Kuk Peninsula, with a breath-taking view out to the Elaphiti Islands.
The large swimming pool is certainly inviting for guests on a hotel summer’s afternoon, overlooking the sea, but the spa and gym are also major pulls, being free of charge. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the establishment, and each room has a large terrace connected to it, with that view above to capture time and time again. Getting out and about is also easy, with a bus near the hotel, taking you to the Old Town, which his around 6km away.
Adriatic Resort Apartments
Hotel-based apartments are a great idea for those who want the responsibility of cooking for themselves, or the freedom to eat out, while also maintaining the perks of staying in a tourist establishment, and these apartments are ideal! Pool-wise, you have the choice of an indoor and outdoor pool, so you can escape the heat if you so wish. However, the indoor pool does come with a charge attached to it.
Located right on the beach front, you can venture further afield to Cava and Copacabana Beaches for water sports or you can stay nearby on the pebbly beach and sunbathe. There are also many leisure facilities on site, such as a tennis court and wellness center, so it’s really like a mini holiday village to some degree.
The apartments themselves are spacious, and come with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Some have a furnished terrace, so request this if you want to enjoy outdoor dining.
Villa Moretti – Private Residence
This is another private vacation rental which offers the ideal base for a family or group. The pool is a fantastic centre-point, with lounges on wooden decking surrounding the pool, and mood lighting in the water for the evening! The views over the sea are also fantastic, as the villa is located in the chilled out Bay of Zaton.
Accommodating up to ten people, there are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, set in a traditional stone style, with everything you need inside its modern interior, including a large, fully equipped kitchen. The summer kitchen and dining area also open out towards the BBQ area. The bedrooms are also large and spacious, two of which have king sized beds, and two with twin beds.
Last but certainly not least we have the stylish Hotel Adria. With its clean lines, modern décor this hotel is a sophisticated four-star choice. The hotel is located just 15 minutes away from the beach, in Gruz, and 2.5km from the Old Town.
Most rooms have a large balcony each, with views over the water, and free Wi-Fi throughout, air con, and flat screen TVs as standard. Of course, there is a swimming pool, and this time it is an indoor one, which is ideal for those who don’t want to fry in the summer sun!
