Guide To Glamping In Croatia
Have you ever heard of glamping?
No, it’s not some random word that someone made up. It’s actually a fantastic and glamorous way to experience nature in some of the most sophisticated surroundings possible! If camping isn’t for you because you simply can’t be bothered with packing and unpacking a tent and dealing with the whole sleeping-on-the-floor thing, glamping is a fantastic middle ground between a hotel and a tent. (Although if you love sleeping on the ground, Croatia’s got loads of options).
Think of a regular campsite. You get the beauty of nature and peace and serenity, but do you generally get much in the way of comfort? Glamping combines the best bits of camping but adds in total and utter comfort and style. You don’t need to pack or unpack a tent, you don’t need to make a fire, and you don’t have to go outside behind a bush if you need the toilet in the middle of the night!
Glamping is like a home away from home but with extra sophistication thrown in. When you think about Croatia’s scenery and nature, you can imagine that a glamping break could be something extraordinary indeed. There are several places with glamping facilities, so let’s look at some of Croatia’s best glamping.
Cast Away, Hvar Island
Enter Cast Away – Cast Away is an “off-the-grid, back-to-basics eco campsite which offers ten spacious huts in the middle of nature, a stone’s throw away from two beautiful beaches.”
Cast Away’s beginnings have a beautiful story too; Didier Van Bellinghen was born in Belgium to a Belgian father and Croatian mother.
His mum always had a dream to have a small guesthouse on one of the Dalmatian Islands in Croatia; they found the perfect location on none other than the gorgeous island of Hvar. Sadly, his mum passed away just after construction began; 30 years later, Didier returned to fulfill his parents’ lifelong dream, and Cast Away was born.
Glamping Cikat Losinj, Mali Losinj

In Mali Losinj, you will find this real slice of outdoor heaven. Accommodation is like being on safari, with a wooden hut entirely at your disposal, including kitchen facilities, a coffee machine for your morning cup of java, as well as comfortable beds and living space. On-site, you will also find a swimming pool, spa center, shops, and restaurants.
It’s like log cabins, the ones you get in ski resorts, but add in the sun, warmer temperatures, and Mediterranean-style scenery, and you’re not too far from what this site offers. You’re not cut off from the world either, as there is Wi-Fi throughout, as well as private parking.
Situated on the island of Losinj, you will be cut off from the hustle and bustle of daily life, making this is the ideal place to kick back and relax. Glamping here is fun, affordable, and luxurious to the max.
Glamping Zaton, Zadar

Just ten minutes from Zadar, you will also find the fantastic glamping facilities that this camp offers. If you love the holiday resort feel, almost like a holiday village, this is for you. Here, you will find luxury tents, which feel more like a house than an actual tent itself! Well equipped with all mod-cons, again, it is like being on safari, all situated in a tranquil and peaceful location in nature.
Every tent is private, safe, and you will be extremely comfortable. If you prefer, you can go for a safari lodge instead, which come with patios and queen-sized beds, and bunk beds for the kids. All have a dining room, kitchen, and en-suite toilet and shower.
This is a great choice if you want to be in the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, but within easy reach at the same time.
Lanterna, Porec

The popular spot of Porec can be explored and enjoyed via glamping, too! Camping Laterna has 14 luxury tents available for those who want to give glamping a try. Set in a small village near Tarska Vala, the sea views are stunning to wake up to every morning. The nearby town of Novigrad is a fun place to visit as well.
Glampers can enjoy the on-site swimming pool and restaurant while kicking back and relaxing in the large and well-equipped tents situated on or above the beach.
The tents themselves are great for families, a large room for adults, and a smaller room for the kids, including bunk beds. There are en-suite bathrooms and showers, a large kitchen and terrace, all including hammocks to really relax, as well as an outdoor seating area. If you want to watch something on TV, you can do that, too, while taking in your surroundings.
Bi Village, Fazana

On the western coastline of Croatia’s popular Istria region, you will find the equally popular area of Fazana. Bi Village is a glamping slice of heaven, with huge tents offering comfort and sophistication. This is an excellent spot for families, again, as you can enjoy the fun of camping while cutting out the hard work and the negative side of it.
There are restaurants, as well as a playground, shops, and a large swimming pool. There is an entertainment team on-site, too, which keeps the kids happy during the early evening and during the day.
Accommodation here is like a holiday cottage, and rooms are equipped with large beds, including mosquito nets, decorated in a wooden, simplistic style. Your surroundings are entirely natural, set in the countryside and lush, green vegetation. It really doesn’t get more al fresco than this without actually sleeping on the ground outdoors!
Camp Simuni, Pag

In the north of the Adriatic lies the beautiful and very popular island of Pag. Its extremely long coastline makes it ideal for beach breaks. Here, you can also find glamping facilities. Camp Simuni is part of the large Eurocamp franchise, so you know you’re getting amenities and entertainment as standard. There are six beaches nearby, 14 cycling paths, and a water sports center to enjoy.
Choose from different accommodation styles, ranging from 2 to 3 bedrooms, depending on your party size. All are like wooden cabins, decking, and outdoor living, made easy, and bathrooms, cooking facilities, and complete privacy.
Pag is a popular spot, and that might mean crowds during summer. However, the slightly out-of-the-way location of this camp means you can enjoy the best of both worlds. You get peace while being within easy reach of holiday fun.
Mon Perin, Bale

There is a lot of beauty and history to explore in Bale, and glamping at the same time is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the traditions of the Istrian region. Mon Perin itself is very sophisticated, offering a true get away from it all feel. All accommodation is modern and well-decorated, almost like a show home, with glass sides to help you check out the beautiful beach and vegetation all around you.
The site is very close to Bale’s medieval town, and there are plenty of facilities and amenities on-site. Children will be well catered for with a playground, mini-golf, beach facilities and sports, a tourist train, and a free aqua park. There are on-site restaurants, BBQ facilities, and a beach bar for your entertainment. This is like a holiday village with an extra modern and extra sophisticated twist!
Glamping Sibenik
If you want to be based in complete and utter countryside, cut off from the world, this particular choice is for you. Set on an island, you can still have easy access to the mainland but enjoy peace and serenity as well. You’ll wake up to the scents of fragrant pine and olive trees every morning. This is an adults-only site, so fantastic for honeymoons and romantic breaks, without noise.
The accommodation is like safari huts, many of which have direct beach views to wake up to. There are hammocks and chairs outside most huts, and ambient lighting available. Wi-Fi is on hand, and each lodge has a bathroom, kitchen, and living area, which is well-stocked with everything you could need throughout your break.
If you thought camping was a bargain basement, a visit to this glamping site really would show you how sophisticated this new form of holidaying can be.
Camp Zagreb

You don’t have to be in the total countryside. You can also be very close to a large city, but still enjoy the wonder of nature. Camp Zagreb is the perfect middle ground, offering easy access to the city but also set in green, lush vegetation. This isn’t a huge site, but it provides enough for visitors to enjoy, including wooden bungalows overlooking the lake.
Plenty of water sports are on offer, such as kayaking, providing your day’s entertainment. There is a wellness suite on-site, as well as a large restaurant and pizzeria. There are 50 camping pitches available and three luxury bungalows, and one with a deluxe room. As you can see, it will never be crowded!
If you don’t like the idea of a soulless hotel during your stay, Camp Zagreb really will help you feel like you’re enjoying the best of nature but offer the sophistication and glamour of glamping at the same time.
